The Kiwanis Club of Tysons is hosting their annual Kiwanis Polar Dip in February to raise money for organizations that benefit youth. "We are proud to continue this local tradition at Lake Anne!," said Christopher Kozusko, Kiwanis Club of Tysons President. "Encouraging youth to be service-minded citizens is an important part of what we do. We are thrilled to be jumping with our students that benefit from our programs."
The event, formerly the Virginia Polar Dip, has raised over $1 million in the past two decades. This year, the goal of the Kiwanis Polar Dip is to raise $30,000 for Food for Neighbors and a variety of Kiwanis Youth Programs in the Fairfax County area. A portion will also benefit Camp Sunshine, a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
The Kiwanis Polar Dip will take place Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. at Lake Anne Village Plaza in Reston. Check-in opens at 12:30 p.m. and jumping begins at 2 p.m.
Participants can sign up to jump individually or form teams today by visiting the Kiwanis website at kiwanispolardip.org. All participants on-site who raise at least $100 will receive an event t-shirt. Individuals who don't want to jump are still welcome to donate to the event.
Attendees can also enjoy the Kiwanis Polar Dip Winter Market, graciously organized by the Lake Anne Washington Plaza Merchants Association. There will be opportunities to shop, as well as children's crafts and other activities.
Partners of the Kiwanis Polar Dip include Northwest Federal Credit Union, Kiwanis Club of Fredericksburg, Kiwanis Club of Waldorf, Reston Association, Lake Anne Washington Plaza Merchants Association, Reston Community Center, and the Fairfax County Cold Water Dive Team.
