A haiku is a short poem from Japan. It has three lines and follows a special pattern:
The first line has 5 syllables
The second line has 7 syllables
The third line has 5 syllables
Steps to Write a Haiku:
Think about nature – Haikus are often about seasons, weather, or animals.
Choose a feeling – Do you want to show happiness, calmness, or excitement?
Count the syllables – Clap or tap to make sure your lines follow the 5-7-5 pattern.
Use simple words – Haikus are short, so every word should be important.
Example Haiku About Spring:
Birds chirp in the trees (5)
Flowers bloom in the warm sun (7)
The breeze feels so soft (5)
Now try writing your own haiku about Spring!
